we also had a husband takening his elderly wife to our meetings by car.  we
are a small group.  they'd been coming long before I was and I never asked.  I
just assumed that they thought it would be a really bad idea to have him wait
out there in the heat/cold...whatever elements while she was in the meeting.
he just sat on the back and quietly read a book.
