Mignonette,

The contest was from a book called "The Game On Diet". I don't remember the author (my mother had read the book). It is a team contest and uneven teams is ok since all scores are divided by the number of players and is played for 4 weeks. You need to eat 5 meals a day, drink 100 ozs of water, exercise at least 20 minutes a day, sleep at least 7 hours a night, and change one bad habit and start a new habit.

The habits are to be told to your team at the beginning and they should not be changed during the contest or you lose points. Doing each habit a day will get you 10 points each for a total of 20 points. Sleeping at least 7 hours will get you 10 points.Exercising at least 20 minutes a day will earn you 20 points a day. Drinking your water or tea (not sure what else is counted) will get you 20 points as well.

Each of the 5 meals should consist of one carb, one protein, a healthy fat and 2 servings of fruits or vegetables and will be worth 6 points per meal. Two of the meals must have vegetables or you won't get points for those meals. There is a list of food that you can chose from for your meals and a list that you can't eat. You should avoid all sugar and things like futose and the like. Each meal should be eaten between 2 and 4 hours apart. The only thing you can have between meals is cucumbers and celery. You are also not suppose to have any white flour or rice. Whole grain foods are what you should be eating. We allowed whole grain cereal like Total and Cherios (even though they still had sugar in them) since this is what we ate for breakfast most days.

Each week you are allowed to take one meal off (you still get the points but can eat just about anything for an hour and a half). You are also allowed one day off (again you still get the points) of everything. If you do everything you would wind up with a total of 700 points for the week before any extra points.

You are allowed to step on the scale once a day but any more than that and you lose points. They say to weigh in about 5 minutes after waking on your weigh in day but we used our TOPS weigh in which was around 5:30 on Wednesday nights. If you lose 1% of your weight for the week you multiply your score by 1.20 (20% added to your previous total i.e. if you had 700 points and you made your goal you would multiply 700 X 1.20 and get 840 points) to get your total points. Each team should also have someone that collects everyones point total for the previous week by a certain time. Those that get their points to that person would get another 10 points. Max points for a week is 850. Everyones points should be added together and then divided by the number of people on the team to come out with a average point per person total. The average per person total for each week is then added together to come up with the teams total points. The team with the most
 points wins.

There are a few other rules but I can't think of them right now. I would suggest seeing if you could get the book at your library or just going out and buying it as you will want to have some of the pages copied for everyone that plays. Let me know if you have any other questions.

It seems like a lot of work but it was fun and I did manage to lose 4.5 pounds during the contest. We are planning on starting it again next week so we will see how it goes the second time.
