Hi Cybertops Friends,

Here's the Fall Rally Report from this past Saturday's Fall Rally dated
October
31. I am giving a program on the Fall Rally on Thursday and this is it.

I am working today from 3:30 to 6:30 PM.

Have a good Monday and good luck to the Monday weigh-ins.

TOPS Hugs,

Janice from Ohio

Congratulations to Linda Fulton & Janice Scheffer for perfect attendance from
July 18 to October 5. Linda and Janice received a nice charm.

There was a no gain award from July 18 to October 5. Five people received a
charm. They mentioned that 3 of them were officers. Two of them were from
Chapter 2017.

There was recognition of all KOPS. Barb read a poem about KOPS: KOPS may fall
down but they don't stay down. They accept responsibility and are positive
thinkers and see the good in all things. They believe in the path but they
never have it made. Barb handed the KOPS a yellow card & white card. The KOPS
kept their yellow card but had to give the white card to a friend who they
think
will reach their goal.

They had a championship design airplane contest. Different members threw
paper
airplanes to see who threw the furthest. Guess it was just a fun contest but
really didn't have anything to do with TOPS.

There was recognition for members who lost 10 pounds or more from July 18 to
October 5. Our Ru Ride came in first place in Division 4 with a 15.50 pound
loss. Congratulations to Ru. Janice's old club of Solon #1098 had Leona White
who received first place in Division 3 with 27.50 pounds. Leona lost the most
weight in the group of 10 pounds or more. Janice talked to Leona and Leona is
on a special thyroid diet. Leona said she can have < teaspoon of salt per
meal
& no salad dressings when Leona eats a salad. Oh, this group of 10 pounds or
more lost a total of 147 > pounds during those 3 months of the contest.

Tana O'Donnell, our coordinator said that many members of TOPS were asking
why
our Fall Rally doesn't have a theme. Tana said because it is fall time and it
is better to open the imagination.

Next were the 3 winners from the program cover design. 1st place was Chris
from chapter #1900 Cleveland and that was the front page of the program. 2nd
place to Mary Ann from Elyria and that was the back of the program and 3rd
place
was Nancy from chapter #1900 and that was the ticket.

We also sang Rally songs and our Penny will make copies for us so we can sing
the songs during the meeting. We had a break from noon to 1 PM and Linda,
Mitzi,Penny, Janice,Mary Kay and Ru ate lunch in the cafeteria of the
college.

When we arrived back from lunch Tana talked about "My Time". Dreams do come
true. Read the rules. Attend the meetings. Participate at your meetings.
Support each other. Time is important and time is a gift. The L-003 chapter
membership form is being resized and redesigned. Be sure the starting date
and
weight is on the form. All memberships must have the members signature on it
whether a new or renewal membership. New members can order the "Choice is
Mine"
book on the L-003 form. There will be a new chapter Sourcebook. It will be a
loose leaf notebook and mailed out sometime in November. In the November TOPS
News they have combined rules for TOPS and KOPS. The Chapter Resume L-010
will
be mailed to the leader now. In 2010 all weight charts will be white. Only a
large letter in the upper right corner will designate if it is for a T-tops,
K-kops and Tr-transfer. The TOPS poundbook will be $1.50 for 6 minimum and
it's
on a form in the December/January TOPS News. There will be a limited supply.
Travel charts are to be mailed back to your chapter by December. The end of
the
year reports need to be mailed to Tana by January 8. Tana said she has 140
chapters.

Tana talked about the "Cut and Burn" program that's in one of your past TOPS
News books. It is program 64. Give up 100 calories per day. That can be a
slice
of bread or 1 chocolate chip cookie. Eat 2 instead of 3 cookies. You can burn
100 calories by exercising for 20 minutes. It's another tool to lose weight.
Last year we lost 437 tons and that was 95 > pounds per chapter. Our goal
this
year is to lose 1 million pounds for 2009. Our SRD (State Recogntion) is
April
30-May 1. The International (IRD) is in July of 2010 but in Nova Scotia. Tana
said she's in charge of the 2011 IRD in Milwaukee . It's going to be fun.
Tana
said she had so much fun at the IRD in Pittsburg when she was dressed up in
the
Tinkerbell outfit.

Tana said you need to be building on good thoughts. TOPS members are getting
old. You need to change your eating. You need to eat healthier and live
longer
because our children will be the ones taking care of us in our older years.
Each member holds a key to success. Show up at your chapter. Be on time. When
you are asked to do a job you should get it done. These are the keys to
success. KOPS are patient, persistent and are listened by others. How often
we
say tomorrow. Tomorrow is now. Develop new skills. Keep on trying over and
over. Support and believe in yourself and your members. You can do it! Be an
optimist. Smile. It's a key to everybody's heart. Desire is the fire of life.
No one can do it for you. Stop the excuses. Stop that thinking stinking.
Tomorrow is now. This is your time.

10 chapters participated in the cheer contest. Congratulations to our chapter
63 for first place. Special thanks to Penny who was in charge of our cheer.
We
received a photo album and first place certificate. 2nd place was the
Lyndhurst
group and 3rd place was the Middlefield group/construction workers.

Tom talked about how new members inspire members and help us get back on
track.
There was a chapter contest to see how many new members your chapter can
enroll.
Tom read a poem from Cybertops group called the TOPS Way. First place was
Euclid 93 chapter, 2nd place was chapter 2017 Middlefield and 3rd place was
chapter 393 Mount Vernon. 14 chapters participated and they had a total of 50
new members.

Karen Hull was our speaker from Chapter #1487 Port Clinton and is the chapter
weight recorder. Karen has been a TOPS member since 1970. At SRD Karen is in
charge of the KOPS graduation and KOPS luncheon. TOPS is a journey. It's
perseverance. Karen always had a weight problem and was 25 pounds overweight.
Karen lived on a farm and was an overweight child, teen, wife and mother.
Karen's aunt belonged to TOPS in 1967. Karen asked her aunt about TOPS who
lived in central Ohio. In January of 1969 Karen moved to Cleveland and had no
close friends or neighbors. Karen had 2 small children and a husband. All
Karen did was cook, eat and watch television. On the weekends Karen went back
to
Port Clinton. Karen did say she walked to the playground with her kids in the
summer. Karen went to the doctor and the doctor put her on a 1200 calorie
plan.
Karen stopped walking. In August of 1970 Karen joined a morning TOPS chapter
at
the community center. It was 50 cents for a babysitter. Karen told her
husband
about TOPS but he said to her "it won't do you any good." When Karen started
losing weight her husband was her biggest fan. The ARD was held in downtown
Cleveland and Karen was dazzled by the winners and royalty and never seen
anything like it. It still gives her the chills. In 6 months Karen lost 17 >
pounds and was a KIW (KOPS in waiting for 13 weeks). Karen was struggling and
was never under goal. Karen's members gave her a KOPS shower and she was
thrilled. Karen had improved self-esteem. Karen used to get sick and said
TOPS
is the greatest gift and made wonderful friends. Karen's 2 close friends were
the weight recorder and the assistant weight recorder. They have been friends
for 39 years and they have children around the same ages as her children.
Karen
made many other friends in other chapters.

Karen's husband lost job and Karen had to go back home to live in central
Ohio.
Karen visited a large chapter and joined within 3 weeks. Karen lost KOPS
status
but was determined to be a reinstated KOPS. Karen went to another chapter who
met at a church. It was a smaller group and a very active chapter. Karen was
elected as leader and was leader of that group for 3 years. Karen raised her
goal by 3 pounds and in 1974 was a reinstated KOPS. It was more thrilling to
graduate than high school. Karen loved her KOPS pin and wore it everyday. The
pin did get worn out. Karen lost status again and had to step down as leader
because of personal issues. In January the next year Karen regained KOPS
status
and it was 2 years and 2 months. Karen received a 2 year credit as a KOPS.
Karen really cut down on her food intake and exercised off and on. Karen did
cook healthier and said it was a slow process. The family had diet food and
told them that her old habits can kick back in and that you never got it
made.
It was 3 years of life changing events. Karen's husband became diabetic and
she
had to cook diabetic meals. Karen had to get under goal and stay below goal.
Karen said she was the only KOPS in her chapter. Karen mentioned that she
lost
her KOPS status 5 times.

Karen was a reinstated KOPS on June 10, 1985. On June 10 in 2010 Karen will be
a
25 year continuous KOPS and that's her goal from now till June of next year
to
get to that goal In October of 1985 Karen's husband quit job because of his
health and they moved back to Cleveland. Karen was saying how she never
misses
her meetings and that's she was below her goal during the move. Karen was
back
with her 2 forever friends. Karen said she is more involved in TOPS by
attending every ARD/SRD and most IRD's. Karen said TOPS is her priority.
Karen
said she pretends her goal is 2 or 3 pounds under her real goal. Karen told
us
it's never too late. It just takes perseverance. If Karen has a day of
discouragement it just passes. Karen said if she's real tired she just goes
to
bed. Karen wrote a poem "You Can, Too"! It was written 9 years ago and will
close with it. What does it mean to be a KOPS? If you go out to a restaurant
ask for a box right away and only eat half of it. Measure out your cereal
like
> of a cup. Write down every morsel. Weigh in at your meetings. It means good
health. Have a physical once a year. Make sure the good cholesterol is high
and the bad cholesterol is low. Eat healthy meals and enjoy. Karen has more
energy with her grandchildren. Karen is getting up early and going exercising
for = hour per day. Karen is planning ahead and even drinks 8 glasses of
water
on weigh-in day. Karen measures 14 wheat thin crackers and only = cup of ice
cream. Karen is a size 8 instead of a size 16. If somebody gives her a
compliment she thanks them for the compliment. Karen said she feels so
confident and is committed to weekly weigh-ins. Karen takes extra time to
make
fat-free foods and likes to experiment with the TOPS recipes and 1 tablespoon
of
salad dressing. Karen loves to spread the word and TOPS works. Karen said at
her class reunion her former classmates didn't recognize her. Karen said
she's
happier and healthier ME.

Tana said she tells everybody that she has a friend who only eats = cup of
ice
cream. Now you know it's Karen Hull since you just heard her TOPS story.

There was the July contest where you had to lose at least 3 pounds for the
month. For the month of July 19 members lost 113 pounds. Our own Penny Guy
lost 8.50 pounds for the month of July. Congratulations to Penny!

For the month of August the members lost 111 pounds and our own Ru Ride lost
11
pounds. Congratulations to Ru!

For the month of September the members lost 93.6 pounds. Our own Ru Ride lost
4.50 pounds. Congratulations to Ru!

The total weight lost in those 3 months were 317.6 pounds.

Tana read a cute story about a strange old lady. Fall Rally ended at 2:15 PM.

Here's our first place TOPS Cheer:

TOPS, TOPS that's our plan,
If TOPS can't do it nothing can.

Meetings, support and programs, too
These are some of the things we do.

Portion control, portion control
Keep it small.
Water, water drink it all.

TOPS, TOPS that's our plan,
If TOPS can't do it nothing can.
T-O-P-S (TOPS, TOPS!)
