Your friend had the same kind of hematoma my dad had.   The doctor cut an
area the size of a golf ball out of dad's skull to remove the hematoma.
She's donating the rest of her hair to a good charity.

I received a text from my friend Vel today and they are finally moving her
out of ICU and into a regular room tonight! In a regular room she can have
more visitors, they can stay longer, and she can have flowers and ballons
and etc. which I will, of course, buy for her soon! And she will have a
window again. She has been in Surgial ICU since Friday morning when she went
for her craniotomy. She was in Medical ICU which had a nice big window.
Surgical does not. She misses the outside view for sure. She has her
dialysis three times a week and that is going good but, of course, she is
really tired afterwards and sleeps for awhile. The subdural hematoma in her
brain is gone and the MRI/CT afterwards does not show a cyst thank God. They
had to shave one side of her head and she is going to shave the rest and
donate it to Locks of Love. I told her she looks like a sexy Latin Sinead
O'Connor! ! Her hair is like mine. It grows VERY fast so no big deal. We
thought they were going to just drill holes in her skull near the hematoma.
They actually did cut into her skull. She has large staples in her head as
well as a drainage tube. Poor thing! She gets that out today. Her blood
pressure is high and they are having a hard time getting that down but,
other than that, she is doing well and can't wait to get to a regular room.
We'll find out what's next after that and how long she will be in the
hospital. She is one of my best friends, always has been, and we have been
on a few dates in the past but this, of course, has put a damper on our
social life but it has shown me to appreciate life more and it has also
shown me how much I really do care for her. 

Thanks for all the love and thoughts and prayers. She really appreciates it
as do I!

I will confess with her being ill and work being crazy I haven't really
focused on ME lately and have fallen off track but I know what I have to do
to get back on track.

I am over 1000 e-mails behind again and will try and do my best to catch up
soon cause I'm, once again, OUT OF THE LOOP. I hope I haven't missed
anything important.
