I have an advanced care directive which my attorney wrote up for me and my
primary care doctor has a copy of. I also have one. Also put it on your
drivers license if you want your organs donated. Make your family aware of
it.

Another big important factor..... I just lost my brother, he was fine, he
was on a Cruise, One big heart attack and he never regained consciousness'.
Well the big problems were, he had penciled my sisters name in his passport
as "to be notified". Folks that is not enough. Think this out and have some
paperwork in place. A "Medical power of attorney" a "will" and any other pre
planning that you can think of. You just never know when you may need it and
it is not there...... It is a big problem for you and your close relatives.
Please think about it.

Subject: [CyberTOPS] wake-up call
As many of you know, I am recovering from a massive stroke I suffered in
August 2008. It truly was a wake-up call for me. I also lost my mother to
cancer a little more than a year ago. Life lessons are everywhere. Being a
teenager in the 70's...Farrah Fawcett was the icon of that time...
Did you watch bFarrahbs Storyb last week? Itbs a documentary that
chronicled actress Farrah Fawcettbs two-and-a-half year fight against that
ominous
Goliath, cancer. According to reports, about 9 million viewers tuned in to
watch. The airing of this documentary produced quite a bit of controversy as
some thought it was too gritty, personal and emotionally painful to air. On
the other hand, others thought it was a brave undertaking by Ms. Fawcett
that will help others better deal with the disease. Regardless of whether
you
watched or not, it seems like we all know someone whose life has been
touched
directly or indirectly by cancer. But cancer is more than a horrible
disease; it can also be a great teacher. Therebs a very important life
lesson to
be learned from Fawcettbs heart-breaking and agonizing journey. To me,
situations like this always remind me of the value of life. The simple truth
is
that most of us go through our days taking our lives and health for granted.
It
bs only during difficult and challenging times, when we or someone we love
is seriously ill or injured, that we truly understand the value and wonder
of life. So, if cancer is also a teacher, whatbs the lesson that can be
learned from Fawcettbs tragedy? Use her situation as a wake-up call for
your
own
life. In short, I suggest you do more than just ache, hope and pray for
Fawcett. In her name, live your life fuller, love those around you with more
passion and enjoy the simple things that life offers you each and every day!
If
you do that, not only will your life become much richer, but you will find
the silver lining hiding behind this very dark cloud.
