Hi, Lori...you have the right idea.....I am 63 and all of a sudden to ME, it
is not important to LOOK SVELTE...lol
but I want more then anything just to be healthy. I have no high cholesterol
 no diabets, and my bp is GOOD GOOD..
but my back is a mess....so want to take of the pounds for that particular
reason..so I can walk and exercise better....

The idea you have have eating more nutritiously and  less of the junk food
is GREAT.
I must admit I LOVE JUNK food...and have had to take it out of the equation.
.it does not work.

This being 50+ and trying to lose weight is for the birds.  I have never
ever had such a difficult time!!!  Losing weight has never been easy for
me, but usually if I exercised 3 times a week, and cut out the junk food,
I'd lose a half pound or a pound a week.  If I upped the ante a bit, I'd
lose more than that some weeks.

Now, it doesn't seem to matter.  However, I sat down with myself this
morning and gave myself a talking to.  I am going to focus on being at a
healthy weight so that when I'm 60+ or 70+ or 80+, I will be as healthy as
possible.  To achieve this healthy life, I need to focus more on eating
nutritious food, and eat very sparingly of junk food.

So ... bear with me as I strive to do this and become healthier, and
hopefully a thinnner waistline will be an added bonus!
