If you were alive in the 1960s, youbll probably remember a TV show hosted by
Allen Funt called bCandid Camera.b I remember watching this show as a
child,
and being enthralled by the reactions of those people caught in the fun-filled
candid-camera trap. The premise of the show was simple: They filmed ordinary
people being confronted with unusual situations, with hilarious and
spontaneous results. It was a huge success in the 1960s, and was the
inspiration for a
variety of reality shows in the past couple of decades. In short, it caught on
film what people did when they didnbt think anyone was watching. They say
you
can tell the true character of someone by how they treat people and behave
when nobody is watching, and my personal experience tells me that this is
basically true. So, as I thought about the premise of the old bCandid
Camerab show,
it brought me to the foundation for todaybs reflection. The question is
this:
When it comes to eating healthy, is the way you eat in public the same way you
eat when nobody is watching? Many people eat healthfully when they are out in
public, but they abandon all attempts at good nutrition when in the privacy
of their homes. If this sounds a lot like you and you want to find the healthy
life and fit body that you only now dream about, I suggest you take a lesson
from the old TV show and change your behavior. Just imagine there are cameras
watching what you eat whenever youbre alone. If you allow this imagery to
influence what you eat at all times, I can candidly tell you that one day you
will
be the picture of health!
