The annual challenge on cyberTOPS for 2009 is the "DISNEY" Challenge!!!
Let me know if you want to be in the challenge if you haven't already
done so!
You will be spelling the word ORLANDO letter by letter, as well as
accumulating Disney characters. Once you have earned 700 points, you
will have completed the entire word and will receive a charm and
certificate in the mail. You will then start the word DISNEY. Once you
spell the second word (accumulating at least 1300 points), you will
receive another prize in the mail. After that, for every 500 points you
accumulate, you will receive an additional prize.

**THE TOPS RULES:
**------------------------------------------
*Each TOPS reporting will get 16 points for a pound lost (4 points for
each quarter pound) and 2 points for a "turtle" (stay the same). If you
end the month with a net loss or turtle *and* you weighed in at least
twice, you will earn an additional 10 points. If you end the month with
a net gain, the equivalent points will be deducted and you will not get
the bonus points. For each 100 points accumulated, another letter will
be added to the word ORLANDO as well as a new Disney character. When
all 7 letters are spelled (ORLANDO), you will earn a charm and will then
begin to spell the word DISNEY to earn a second prize.
Any time a TOPS takes an "ABS" on their chart rather than weighing in,
they will not be eligible for any bonus points that month.
If a TOPS backslides below the points required for a letter, it will be
removed from your word at the end of the month. However, if you have
spelled the word ORLANDO and then backslide below 700 points, you will
not lose that word.
If a TOPS goes into the negative points, they will have to lose that
amount of weight to start spelling again, but will still earn any bonus
points awarded for net loss months or for bonus months (see next paragraph).
An additional 25 bonus points will be awarded for having a turtle or net
loss during holiday months (Valentine's Day, Easter, July, September,
Thanksgiving, December) as long as you weighed in at least twice in that
month (meaning you could earn a total of 35 bonus points for those
months if you have a net loss or turtle!). Thanksgiving will be awarded
at the end of October for Canadians (and anyone outside North America)
and at the end of November for Americans.
An additional 10 bonus points will be awarded for every 10 pound net
loss increment for the year.
If a TOPS achieves KOPS status (or reaches goal if they are not in
TOPS), they will receive a bonus 200 points.
You can definitely win by losing!!!
*------------------------------------------
THE KOPS RULES:*
*------------------------------------------
* If a KOPS reports at -5.00 to -7.00 below goal, they will receive 20
points. If they report at goal to -4.90 below goal, they will receive
16 points. If they report above goal in leeway, they will receive 10
points. If they report out of leeway above goal, 20 points will be
deducted. (Below goal will not be penalized). If they have reported in
at least twice in a month and not been out of leeway that month, they
will receive an additional 10 bonus points.
An additional 25 bonus points will be awarded for having staying in
leeway during holiday months (Valentine's Day, Easter, July, September,
Thanksgiving, December) as long as you weighed in at least twice in that
month (meaning you could earn a total of 35 bonus points for those
months if you have were in leeway and weighed in twice!). Thanksgiving
will be awarded at the end of October for Canadians (and anyone outside
North America) and at the end of November for Americans.
If a KOPS backslides below the points required for a letter (usually for
being out of leeway), it will be removed from your word at the end of
the month. However, if you have spelled the word ORLANDO and then
backslide below 700 points, you will not lose that word.
Any time a KOPS takes an "ABS" on their chart rather than weighing in,
they will not be eligible for any bonus points that month.
If a KOPS happens to lose status and their points are in the negative,
they will start with a fresh slate as a TOPS. If their points are NOT
in the negative, they will carry them with them to TOPS.

_I will send a report to the list at the end of every month showing
where everyone is in the challenge.
You have until January 2, 2010 to complete the challenge if you choose
to accept it!
