At long last.reFOCUS!
Treat It! - Thought One
If you have a cold - you treat it! How? - rest, fluids, chicken noodle
soup, tissues, medicine, doctor's visit, etc.
If you have toothache - you treat it! How? - dentist's appointment along
with the promise that I will now and forever more brush, gargle and floss
after every meal.
If your car has problems - you treat it! How? - make an appointment, take
it to the mechanic, wait, pay $$, and if it still doesn't work, you take it
back.
If your hair has the skunk gray streak down the middle (like mine) - you
might treat it! How? - make an appointment, go get it done or buy coloring
and do it yourself.
If you have a weight problem - you treat it! Your weight is no different.
You need to treat it! You need to treat it in the logical manner that you
treat all the other issues in your life. I said LOGICAL! Think of your
weight as a dining room table (naturally it would be a "dining" room table -
foodies). The 4 legs of the table could represent exercise, food intake,
water, support (such as TOPS) - if you remove (do) all 4 legs than your
weight doesn't have a "leg" to stand on.
Treat It! - Thought Two (Kind of like "Thing One, Thing Two" from Dr. Seuss)
As you lose weight or achieve your exercise goals you need to TREAT yourself
- reward yourself! Not with food, but other things.when I get to goal I am
going to Las Vegas or the Homestead (fancy resort in Southwest Virginia
which would cost as much as going to Las Vegas for 3 days), but I also have
interim rewards.
Re-Treat It - Thought One
If you slip up, just re-treat it! Just like if you had gotten another
cold.you treat it again! Keep cutting those "dining" room table legs off!
Retreat It - Thought Two
I attended the Smith Mountain Lake retreat in August with Director Cynthia
Mack and 33 new friends (including me.we should all be our own best
friends)! What a superior, superior time! We had a blast! If you have
never been to a retreat.you just don't know what you are missing. I am
saving my pennies for the next time I get to go (I try to go every other
year - so you might see me there)! Check out the TOPS Magazine for upcoming
retreats!
What did I learn? Hello. The Exchange System works (so after 12 years in
TOPS and 3 retreats.duh.why did I have to be so stubborn all those years?)!
Two of the highlights of the retreat for me were Libby and Verdie from the
Harrisonburg Area. Both are KOPS. Libby is 95 and was a total kick in the
pants! Verdie could outwalk me and if you know me.that is hard to do! I am
still laughing about taking the bag from them that they were carrying
together to the car on the last day. I thought I was going to get a hernia
it was so heavy, but they were carrying like it was nothing! As Libby said
about being a KOPS and keeping active."If I can do it, so can you."
You can do it - if you TREAT IT (and yourself) right!!
Let me introduce you to some new friends of mine - stuffed animals
"Creatures of Delight" (De-light as in losing weight and becoming lighter?)
- loved their names. Which one are you?
Chiquita - tells it like it is. Confident and keeps her cool, she boldly
walks into any situation and doesn't take sassing from anybody. Bold and
beautiful and ready to take on the world behind bright red lips and deep
blue eyeshadow, she takes charge in any situation. Chiquita is not a
Chi'quita' and is on her way to being a KOPS!
Snarl - a most fearsome dragon, or least he would like to be. He chose the
name "Snarl" to inspire fear in those who meet him. He didn't think the
name is mother gave him would do that - his real name is Bob. When it comes
to losing weight Snarl "fires" it up and is not dragon-ing his feet in
getting to goal.
Shooster - Have you ever known someone who just didn't get it? Let me
introduce you to Shooster. His failure to grasp the simplest of concepts,
and blindly make wrong decisions never seems to stop him from sharing his
misinformation with all those around him. Shooster is having problem
"shoo-ing" away the cookies, cakes and the weight! Definitely don't listen
to him - he has misinformation - he'll tell you that the Cabbage Soup diet
is the way to go!
Scalawag - is a true operator. He'd sell his mother to the gypsies if he
thought she'd fetch a good price. He's always looking for an angle or a way
to get ahead without really having to do much work. Maybe if he actually
started doing something he might actually get somewhere. Hmmm - I guess
that makes me a Scalawag since I haven't done the work I need to do to get
to goal.
So learn from our friends and don't get 'STUFFED."
It's not what you know but what you USE of what you know that counts!
