Kathy,
You are exactly right in setting easy goals. I learned a while ago to rank my
goals as accomplishable on a 1-10 scale. If my goal was ranked 7 or below
(meaning I wasn't sure I could reach that goal), I needed to simplify it.
The object of goal-setting, besides reaching the goal, is to feel great about
succeeding. If your goal is too difficult for you, you will not finish it and
will feel miserable about that. And, you may not set goals again.

My goals for 2009 are to lose as much as 25# and to follow the food exchange
program at least 4 days a week.
I know when you weigh over 200# that doesn't sound like a lot, but I had
rather have an obtainable goal and then set a new one during the year when I
make that goal!
