Angela,

Truman and I just walked into Pamela's room last night when she hung up from
talking to you. She IS doing great, and yes, her voice is 100% better than
the first day she was in the hospital with the stroke, I could hear it in her
voice that day and now that's gone.

She's excited to be going home on the 4th, they would like her to come back to
the rehab hospital 3-5 days a week for outpatient rehab, however, it's far and
she has no way of getting there. I told her that Truman did that for 2 months
after he was discharged from there, it was a 45 minute ride one way and
definately difficult on family & friends who drove him, so we moved his
therapy to our local hospital outpatient rehab 10 minutes from home and that
worked better. I know you can get rehab done in your home, so since she's not
cleared to drive at this point, she should be able to go with in-home therapy.
She also said that she has a gym at her condo that she underutilized up until
this point, but said that she will definately be using it once she's home.

Pamela wanted me to tell you Angela (and Barb Hartley as well), everyone at
the rehab hospital is calling her the Ambassador! Pamela knows all the stroke
patients by first name, and speaks to everyone who wheel past her door. It
was so funny, all the staff visit her room, she and her roommate are like the
greeting committee on a cruise ship. It was funny last night watching Pamela
in action. She was telling us last night that a couple of her customers from
her grocery store are either in there or have a family member in there and
they have been surprised to see her there.

The PT people have drawn a yoga pose that she's to do on her swipe board where
they chart her progress in her room. She really is doing great and said she
just wants to go home. She and Truman swapped stroke stories last night, she
told us that she thought all stroke patients were alike until she got to Bryn
Mawr Rehab and said they are like snowflakes, totally different. Truman
agreed as we saw so many stroke patients in the 2 months he was there, and
strokes definately affect everyone different.

Pamela definately had an angel on her shoulder driving home from the picnic.
She is so lucky! Hugs, Debbie

and she sounds GREAT! Had I not known she had a stroke her voice would not
have given it away. Her speech was very clear and there was no hesitation
while trying to think of the right words to say like I've seen & heard with
other stroke patients. > She will be coming home on the 4th if nothing
changes. Thank God that He was with her & pray that He continues to be. > >
