The lap band is suppose to be much less invasive and not nearly as dangerous
as the gastric bypass. I have a co-worker that had the gastric a little
over a year ago. She looks like the walking dead and has been sick with one
thing or another since having the surgery. Another woman at another health
department had the lap band and was doing great. Today I hear she is going
out on medical leave for a minimum of two weeks, maybe eight. Don't know
what this is for, but hope it isn't connected to her lap band.
They both are drastic measures that insure rapid weight loss, but they don't
come with any guarantee that you will keep it off or be in good health
afterwards.
I hope and pray that I never get to a place that I feel that is the only
alternative left to me.

trying WW for two weeks several years before. Her doctor accepted this as
"trying to lose weight.". She had to have a physical & one visit with a
psychiatrist. Her doctor didn't encourage any group support before or after
the surgery.

not, it's about behavior modification
